Engineering Manager

Hasoverall responsibility to ensure department goals and objectives are met as setin the Annual Operating Plan (AOP). Responsible for developing departmentcapabilities to support business needs, including employee development andcontinuous improvement of facilities and equipment. Drives New Product Development (NPD) andSustaining Engineering effectiveness and efficiency across Engineeringdisciplines.

Our Facility in Carson, CA is ourEngineered Products Group location, which houses our Human Machine Interface,Motion Control Device, Radiofrequency Departments.


Job Summary

Each job function will be conducted withinthe standards described in the Quality Policy and Safety Rules. Other dutiesmay be assigned.

  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives to ensure department capabilities support AOP plans, coordinating with external training resources as required.
  • Measures performance of individuals and teams, providing updates with recommendations for improvement.
  • Promotes individual and team training to ensure staff are ready to support initiatives and projects.
  • Drives employee performance, development, hiring, and staffing projections.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations on policies and procedures to maximize department performance, authoring new policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Manages fiscal responsibility for department, forecasting future requirements and managing expenses within established budget.
  • Cross-functionally interacts to coordinate plans and achieve results.
  • Tracks technology development trends and competitive product development trends to help identify and anticipate future opportunities and competitive threats.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • BS or above in Engineering or related field plus 7 years minimum related experience in Aerospace, Defense, or similar product manufacturing environment
  • Two (2) or more years of experience leading or managing engineering teams, which can include project management and/or project engineering
  • Experience with product design and development
  • Clear communication skills
  • Experience working on Human Machine Interface products, Lighted Panel Line products, Motion Control
  • Devices, or RF/Microwave products a plus
  • Understanding of AS9100 Rev C and ISO 9000 is preferred
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks software a plus

Required Experience and Education

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Business
  • Minimum 5-7 years progressive experience in quality management with supervisory experience, including military, where applicable, and commercial customers
