Position Title: Engineering Specialist I

Summary of duties – Supports Naval Surface Warfare Centers and other government entities conducting installations onboard various Naval Vessels. This to include but not limited to assistance in testing, troubleshooting, and repair of C4ISR systems on U.S. maritime vessels.
Specific description of duties –
- This category may be utilized for a qualified candidate assigned to a specialized function.
- Travel CONUS and OCONUS to provide engineering & technical support for various systems, as required.
- Work as a team with system engineers, computer software developers, test engineers, technicians, and customer representatives.
- Provide technical and engineering support for the installation, light off, testing of, repairs for, and modifications to naval systems.
- Analyze equipment failures to determine root causes and develop corrective action plans.
- Ability to understand ship installation drawings, technical manuals, POA&Ms, and life cycle engineering plans.
- Leverage preventive and corrective maintenance as training opportunities to develop and enhance end-user technical proficiency.
- Support special tests and investigations, including underway support onboard naval vessels.
- Provide verbal and written reports to leadership and other key functional and program organizations or customers.
- Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization’s mission, objectives, and goals.
- May provide Engineering and Technical support for MARFLIR, SIRVISS, STAR SAFIRE III, SEASTAR SAFIRE III, MARFLIR II, CCFLIR, and CCFLIR2 Electro-Optical systems and other components used in installations, maintenance, and test events supporting Maritime and Expeditionary Electro-Optics on U.S. maritime vessels.
Education / Specialized training –
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or technology-related discipline or:
- Ten (10) years of experience in naval shipboard system maintenance, installation management, test & evaluation, technical support, and training.
- Five (5) years of experience conducting test requirements analysis, equipment procurement, installation & configuration of software, hardware, and network-related equipment.
- Computer experience: Could include but not limited to Microsoft Office, CAD, and M.S. Project.
Security Clearance – Citizenship requirement
- Secret Clearance is required.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Physical/Environmental Job Requirements –
- Lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Routinely climb several flights of stairs.
- Perform tasks in confined spaces or outdoors.
- Withstand temperature variations, loud noises, and other physical hazards related to shipyard and shipboard environments.
