Community Engagement Specialist | Midcoast and Central Maine

The Community Engagement Team's main objective is to engage with community members (families, schools, etc.) through small group conversations, events, andsample activities to help families discover Girl Scouts' many opportunities and benefits. Responsibilities include:

  • New Member Lead Generation/Qualification: Generating interest and qualifying potential new members and volunteers using the Sandler Selling System techniques (we provide Sandler training).
  • Event Planning and Delivery: Scheduling, promoting, and delivering 8-14 events per month that provide a sample Girl Scout experience and information to caregivers.
  • Building Brand Awareness: Developing and executing a marketing plan, with the support of our Marketing and Communication Team, to increase attendance at events and awareness about local opportunities that increase membership.
  • Territory Development: Building a strategy to increase girl and adult membership to reach annual membership goals.
  • Customer Service: Delivering superior internal and external customer satisfaction and establishing solid and open relationships based on trust.
  • Support to Volunteers: Recruit, train, and support volunteer Community Engagement Champions (CEC)
  • Continuous Education: Developing an ongoing program, market, and sales knowledge.

Hours: 35 hours per week which includes evenings and occasional weekend events. Approximately 50% of your work is remote office based (within your assigned geographic area in Maine), and 50% of your time will be in the field delivering new member events.

Territory: Midcoast and central Maine. The community includes but is not limited to coastal Maine from Falmouth to Belfast and inland to Augusta and Waterville.

Requirements:

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends regularly
  • Frequent travel is required. Must have access to personal transportation daily for business travel and have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Proven oral and written communication abilities emphasizing active listening, customer service, and public presentation skills; able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of customers, volunteers, and staff.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and takes the initiative; is flexible, adaptable, organized, and has strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel) and social media platforms is essential; experience with a CRM system such as Salesforce is a plus
  • Must subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of GSUSA.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to perform tasks that involve the ability to exert physical effort, which may include some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 25 pounds).

All GSME must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or qualify for an exemption.
