Job description
Manage all aspects of electrical maintenance including day-to-day and long term electrical, electronic and optimization needs to ensure quality work and minimal downtime in a safe and efficient manner at the mill.

1. Supervises, coordinates, plans and oversees day-to-day and long-term electrical maintenance of the mill to ensure quality work and minimal downtime in a safe and efficient manner at the mill.
2. Performs and is responsible for PLC programming.
3. Collects information from various sources including the employees and vendors to ensure that the appropriate parts and materials are on site in order to accomplish the tasks needed done.
4. Plans daily electrical maintenance including filling out work orders and distributing them to the appropriate personnel.
5. Reviews downtime to determine causes and prevention.
6. Plans and coordinates service calls from various vendors, contractors and OEM's.
7. Performs activities related to the storeroom stocking of needed spare parts.
8. Plans and coordinates long-term tasks (weekly, monthly and yearly).
9. Schedules and plans overtime and time-off for electrical maintenance personnel.
10. Performs safety inspections and attends safety meetings as needed.
11. Trains electricians and new employees.
12. Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
13. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the company and the community.
14. Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing or handling hazardous or non-hazardous materials and wastes.
15. Maintains the professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
16. Performs work following safety procedures and practices.
17. Regular attendance is required between the assigned start and end times for work. Exhibits regular and punctual attendance habit to comply with existing attendance requirements.
18. It is an essential function of the job that the individual will not be a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves, others, or property. Direct threat is defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation without creating an undue hardship on the Company.
19. Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a lumber mill environment. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as designated by the company including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing and footwear when required to work in appropriate areas. Must follow safety practices.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time.
SAFETY SENSITIVE
This position is designated as a safety sensitive position because it includes as part of the job duties the operating or monitoring of heavy equipment or machinery, as well as working with and around hazardous materials. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety of the incumbent and others, the incumbent must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while operating or monitoring heavy equipment or machinery, as well as while working with and around hazardous materials.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
The incumbent must have:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3-4 years experience in the electrical maintenance field.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficient time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to problem solve.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS REQUIRED
- Knowledge of high production mills.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in the electrical, mechanical and hydraulic area.
- Strong electrical and PLC knowledge.
