EHS SPECIALIST I

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE EHS SPECIALIST I:

  • Works with direction in providing input to departmental resources on EH&S related matters
  • Prepare for and conduct internal audits at Carpenter Technology locations for environmental compliance and conformance to ISO 14001
  • Manage Sustainability Reporting, including review, analyze and verify data reported by sites
  • Prepare audit, sustainability and technical reports
  • Prepare and administer environmental training to site personnel
  • Assist site representatives with permit applications, environmental reports, contingency plans and technical questions
  • Prepare, administer and ensure conformance to Carpenter policies and procedures
  • Present information as needed via digital or in person settings
  • Travel to other sites as needed to provide environmental support
  • Participates in multi-discipline problem solving teams
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIRED FOR THE EHS SPECIALIST I:

  • Two year college degree in related safety science field, engineering or manufacturing or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by Department Management
  • 0-2 years of safety or manufacturing experience
  • Understanding of Environmental Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility for ESG
  • Understanding of ISO 14001 or similar continuous improvement systems
  • Ability to analyze and summarize/present data
  • Ability to analyze situations and methodically improve performance through development and implementation of plans while collaborating with others
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Can work under frequently changing priorities
  • Identifies areas of development and takes initiative to develop and implement solutions and remains a generous team player
  • Ability to comprehend and apply regulatory and technical information
  • Must be willing and able to communicate well verbally and in writing
  • Willing and able to collaborate with multiple team members, respectful others’ perspectives while able to reason and contribute their own ideas
  • Ability to build productive relationships with people at all levels
  • Willingness to seek to understand a situation, even through hands-on experience, to learn and help others achieve an effective outcome

PREFERRED FOR THE EHS SPECIALIST I

  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft products including PowerPoint and Excel; MiniTab and Tableau experience is a plus
