Job description
Quala is North America’s largest independent network of tank cleaning, maintenance, and industrial
services offering comprehensive inspections, testing, and repairs for the chemical, food, and
transportation industries. We service a variety of bulk containers, including: Tank Trailers, IBC/ Totes
containers, ISO containers, Railcars, Roll-off containers, and FRAC Tanks.
The EHS Specialist is responsible for promoting continuous improvement of EHS efforts at multiple regionally aligned facilities.
Regular weekly travel to multiple locations in the following states is required OH, MI, IN, KY. Travel the first year will be approximately three weeks per month. Our preference is a candidate who lives in the Midwest US
Position Responsibilities
- Ensures collaboration between EHS team and Operations to collectively meet the company safety and environmental goals and requirements.
- Drive the engagement of employees toward personal accountability of their own safety while mentoring facility leadership in their EHS management efforts.
- Identify and evaluate EHS hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace.
- Conduct surveys to identify and evaluate occupational health, safety, environmental improvement opportunities. Prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards.
- Coordinate with facility management, on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices and develop controls to mitigate identified hazards.
- Provide oversite concerning all local, city, state, and federal compliance regulations.
- Coordinate the implementation of controls from results of job hazard analysis.
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents.
- Coordinate, development, and conduct EHS training programs.
- Assist in new employee health, safety, environmental, and DOT orientation and onboarding process.
- Review accident injury reports: compile, analyze, interpret, and report accident, loss, and exposure statistical data.
- Perform and help coordinate compliance activities and other work tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences/Management or related fields, and 5+ years relevant work experience preferred.
- Strong organization, problem solving, and interpersonal communication skills required.
- Self-motivated, eager to learn, keen to detail, and team oriented.
- Must have participated in the creation of confined space entry training.
- Thorough understanding of RICRA, EPA, and OSHA regulations along with confined space entry.
- Travel required to various locations throughout the assigned region and some special assignments may be required throughout North America. Travel will be weekly with overnight trips.
