Job Summary and Qualifications

The Manager of Learning and Development leads project teams and individuals in the efficient and effective development, maintenance and delivery of educational programs and initiatives. As a highly strategic department representative, this individual consistently demonstrates solid management skills and behaviors and continually strives to exceed customer expectations. The Manager may participate in task forces, committees, or project teams to drive project plans of key business initiatives. This individual manages direct reports and executes project tasks with specified timelines and budgets, and works closely with subject matter experts to assure course content and delivery meets the needs of targeted audiences. The Manager lends technical expertise to team members for all aspects of curriculum design and delivery. This individual contributes to improving the processes and infrastructure of the department.

What you will do in this role:

  • Hires, supervises and mentors Learning and Development colleagues
  • Manages team member activities to meet timeline and budget expectations, managing issues and proactively mitigating risks; communicates the status of departmental activities to the Director of Learning and Development
  • Maintains current knowledge of all office operations, job specific requirements and related regulations
  • Strives to improve current operations by identifying inefficiencies and recurring problems, and by making suggestions to the Director of Learning and Development
  • Ensures integration of adult learning concepts in program content and delivery
  • Scopes the learning initiative and recommends to leaders the most effective learning strategy and approach
  • Comprehends new concepts, content, and processes and converts knowledge into effective training programs and materials
  • Develops content and delivers and supports training initiatives for various groups using a variety of delivery methods, including classroom-based, 1:1, self-instructional materials, job aids, virtual classroom, and webinars/web events
  • Organizes, schedules and conducts annual and ad hoc education needs assessment as input to the strategic education program
  • Researches and promotes best practices for effective learning design in a virtual classroom environment; provides expertise to support other developers
  • Recommends and assists other developers in using desktop publishing and graphics packages, simulation software, and audio/visual technology, where appropriate, to produce professional and effective training materials
  • Strategizes and coordinates with the management team to integrate new standards, models, and operational improvements into the existing training program
  • Assists in researching and assessing new training products, techniques, platforms, and services
  • Demonstrates professional and appropriate interpersonal communication with staff of all levels
  • Works closely with subject matter experts to assure course content and delivery models meet the needs of targeted audiences; analyzes and reports on training effectiveness; recommend and integrate training improvement strategies based on findings
  • Manages team(s), multiple projects, and priorities while adhering to deadlines
  • Provides expertise and assistance to instructors, team members, and other locations, as needed

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education or related field required
  • If a desired applicant does not have a Bachelor’s Degree the requirement can be waived IF they are currently in a Bachelor’s Degree program
  • Minimum three years management experience, specifically leading education or training activities.
  • Healthcare experience preferred
