Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for the performance of complex cardiac diagnostic procedures and all procedures required by the EKG Technician. Demonstrates competency in patient care for neonate pediatric adult and geriatric patients.
Job Specific Duties
1.1 Explains procedure before beginning each study, prepping patient, calibrating equipment, and entering patient data with an accuracy rate of 95% to 98%.
1.2 Records appropriate cardiac structure on tape and hard copy to determine overall function of the heart with less than 2% omission rate.
1.3 Disposition of studies by patient status and age of order. Completes study within scheduled shift unless cleared by the supervisor, noting completion on patient's chart 95% to 98% of the time.
1.4 Prepares test results for physician's interpretation providing all pertinent patient data, accurately recording measurements on data sheet. Copies and disperses study to appropriate areas. Initiates an appropriate charge for patient's account by the end of shift 95% to 98% of the time.
1.5 Maintains proper care of equipment, including cleaning and restocking, so that no more than 1 to 2 outages of supplies are noted per month. Notifies company of any equipment failures immediately to ensure timely repair with notification to supervisor.

Qualifications
REQUIRES:
- This position requires at least 2 years experience in echocardiographic and Doppler technology or the ability to exhibit the special skills listed
- 2 years College education with courses in physiology and anatomy.
- Special skills required for this position include the knowledge of: EKG procedures and equipment; basic cardiac and human body anatomy and physiology; basic interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; general filing procedures; typing and office skills; electrical safety standards; proper phone techniques; aseptic techniques. Candidates must also have the ability to: establish and maintain a good working relationship with a wide variety of hospital personnel; act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients visitors and the public; explain procedures to patients; maintain patient confidentiality; follow established procedures; work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require; organize work assignments; maintain accurate and complete records; maintain a high degree of accuracy regarding all details; remain calm and reassure distressed patients; work with minimal supervision; respond effectively in emergency situations; read and comprehend technical instructions; have effective oral and written communications skills.
- Candidates must have a ARDMS certification.
