Position Summary: The Education Coach is responsible for coaching and mentoring teachers in early childhood education to assure the health and safety of children. The position reports to the Education Coordinator and operates under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of independent judgment, discretion, and initiative. Essential Job Duties:
  • Observe, model and coach, developmentally effective early childhood instructional techniques and practices in the classroom according to strategic coaching plan.
  • Conduct formal, written classroom observations based on research based coaching model to improve and accelerate teacher performance
  • Serve as an instructional leader by providing guidance, support, and suggestions to the classroom staff through coaching using an individual professional development plan focused on staff’s interest, needs and abilities
  • Coordinates and collaborates with Instructional Coaches to identify teachers that need intensive support.
  • Provides intensive support to identified HS teachers according to coaching strategic plan
  • Conduct regular reflective conversations with classroom staff.
  • Assist classroom staff with setting and achieving their goals as well as school readiness goals, curricula goals, and program goals.
  • Monitor and support the implementation of curriculum to ensure classroom environments and appropriate activities that include all Early Childhood Education content areas: individual development, social development, emotional development, cognitive skills, language skills and physical skills
  • Identify training and professional needs of staff and participate in the individual training plan for staff development to support Teacher Effectiveness.
  • Facilitates trainings as needed
  • Ensure ongoing communication with Education Coordinator, Center Director, Coordinators, and other relevant staff regarding coaching practices for assigned teachers
  • Oversee curriculum and program quality for program.
  • Serve as information liaison between Teachers, Management, Disabilities, Mental Health, Health, Nutrition, and Family Support
  • Attend meetings and collaborate with Instructional Coaching Team and Center Staff.
  • Complete documentation of visits and observations
  • Collaborate with Emotional Wellness Coordinator, Behavior Coach, and teacher to develop behavior modification plans (T-SET)
  • Collaborate with Disability Coordinator and teacher to develop RTI activities for children who are suspect for developmental concerns.
  • Monitor results of screenings (ASQ and ASQ-SE) and coordinate with Disabilities Coordinator
  • Ensure teachers have all documents related to behavior plans and they are implemented, documented, and disseminated to appropriate individuals.
  • Provide on-going support and feedback to staff, building morale and acting as a resource person.
  • Participate in professional development, sometimes off-site, at the request and support of supervisor.
  • May be required to attend monthly parent meetings
  • Provide training and support during monthly staff meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs.
  • Must have proven successful interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc.
  • Advanced organizational skills, efficiency skills and excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to completing assignments on a timely basis.
  • Ability to assess the health and behaviors of children by sight and sound.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements and policies.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and utilize effective time management techniques.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:Education and Trainings:· Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education which includes six or more courses in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development (see experience requirements below). Experience:· Two (2) years of work experience in childcare care/development setting. Licenses/Certifications:· Valid Texas driver’s license.· Obtain and keep current Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications· Obtain and keep CLASS (Pre-k) observer reliability Mental / Physical Tasks (F= Frequent, O=Occasional, R=Rarely): | F | Standing- required when making copies, meeting people, moving from work area to work area
