Domestic Relations Intake Supervisor (Probation Supervisor I)
Job description
Position involves supervisory, administrative and professional duties in the Domestic Relations Court Services Unit (CSU). Coordinates the work of intake officers and mediation case managers to ensure that clients and their families receive services appropriate to their needs in compliance with judicial orders, CSU minimum standards, and good intake practices. Monitors documentation of intake and mediation work and reviews intake and mediation paperwork. Reviews intake and mediation cases and monitors work for procedural compliance and quality. Interprets standards, laws and regulations for staff when needed and participates in program development and evaluation.
Monitors data entered in Balanced Data Gathering Environment (BADGE.) Maintains good working relationships with law enforcement, judges, other court officials, Division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE) and other government and community agencies. Provides required performance evaluations on all supervised staff. Must be sensitive and capable in working with diverse socio-economic and multi-ethnic groups and populations. Collects and analyzes pertinent information from a variety of sources, interprets regulations, guidelines, and other statutes, and identifies and uses community resources and agency services. Performs Domestic Relation intake and mediation work.
Requires significant skills in using computer technology and conducting unit liaison with IT personnel. Oversees Domestic Relations when the Director is unavailable.
Salary: The selected applicant's starting salary will be in the minimum to midpoint range ($72,190.56 to $96,254.08) of the advertised compensation range. Promotional rules apply for current Fairfax County Government and Fairfax County Public Schools employees.

Supervises daily operations of the unit, including work schedules, assigns and manages the workload, and maintains statistical records for the unit;
Knowledge of the principles and practices of psychology and sociology;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master's degree in social/behavioral sciences, law enforcement, or education; Plus three years of professional experience in probation/court services work.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position will be required to complete the following to the satisfaction of the employer:
Criminal Background Investigation- Child Protective Services Registry check
- Credit check
- Extensive knowledge of the Code of Virginia, especially domestic code, and Department of Juvenile Justice Standards.
- At least one year of experience in domestic relations intakes.
- At least one year of supervisory (preferably managerial) experience in the criminal justice system.
- Should be a proven leader and possess skills in program management and evaluation, as well as in customer service, communication, and public relations.
- Able to serve as a software resource person for Balance Approach Data Gathering Environment (BADGE) from the Department of Juvenile Justice, Case Management System (CMS) and Juvenile Secure Viewing System (JSVS) from the Supreme Court of Virginia.
- Familiarity and comfort with using Microsoft Office computer software, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing. High attention span with ability to concentrate and perform with a high level of accuracy with constant interruption. Ability to operate office equipment. Visual and auditory acuity. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Ability to travel to various sites during and after business hours. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
