QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
  • Texas certification in education with a minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience;
  • Knowledge and/or training experience in the following:
    • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
    • Multi-Tiered Systems and Supports
    • Restorative discipline practices
    • Capturing Kids’ Hearts
    • Life Space Crisis and Intervention
    • Crisis Prevention and Intervention
  • Demonstrated experience of excellent classroom management;
  • Must provide the last 3 years of professional evaluations;
  • Must be able to recognize the functions of behavior and develop appropriate interventions;
  • Must be willing to receive additional training, as necessary;
  • Must be able to communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators;
  • Demonstrated skill in leading, motivating, and cooperating with others.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 197 days


SALARY:

Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide coaching and training to teachers and support staff on classroom management and best practices, including Restorative Discipline courses.
  • Provide assistance in developing behavior plans for students.
  • Provide assistance to campuses in developing action plans based on discipline data.
  • Provide assistance and training to campuses in developing a behavior-based Discipline Management Class (DMC).
  • Train Behavior Interventionists in the schools to assist with staff development and model teaching.
  • Provide continuous staff development in classroom management strategies to increase successful implementation.
  • Develop lesson plans and other materials as needed by campuses for classroom management.
  • Develop training modules and provide support for schools implementing Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS).
  • Provide co-teach and model teaching and assist with the development and revisions of training materials.
  • On-campus assistance with disruptive students.
  • Provide classroom support and staff development for new teachers.
  • Provide support and consultation for teachers in need of assistance.
  • Provide staff development as required by the Director of Student Services and Assistant Superintendent.
  • And other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services and Assistant Superintendent.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
