Worship Director Employment Agreement
Overview
The Worship Director of The Connection Faith Community shall adhere to the scope of services set forth herein and shall coordinate with the Directing Pastor for providing leadership for the in-person and online worship gatherings of The Connection Faith Community. The Worship Director shall be sympathetic to, and uphold the mission of, The Connection Faith Community, the Illinois Great Rivers Conference, the United
Methodist denomination as a whole, and the Christian Faith.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Worship Director shall be responsible for:
- the creation of an environment at worship gatherings which facilitates and encourages members of The
Connection Faith Community to encounter the presence of God.
- the coordination and direction of all teams responsible for the execution of weekly worship gatherings, both online and in-person, and other special gatherings of The Connection Faith Community unless other arrangements have been made. This includes the Worship Team, Tech Team, Hospitality Team, Kids Team, and readers, speakers, and other volunteers for worship.
- the selection and coordination of music for worship gatherings, in collaboration with the Directing Pastor, and the creation of associated ProPresenter and Livestream presentations for worship.
- the coordination and rehearsal of the Worship Team for execution of weekly worship gatherings and other special gatherings, and any video production for online worship. This may include producing worship song videos for online worship at a time other than worship gatherings.
- the recruitment, training, and oversight of musicians, vocalists, and other volunteers for Teams necessary for the execution of worship.
- the purchase of music, equipment, and any other supplies needed for worship with approval of the
Finance Director, as per the approved annual budget.
- an adherence to high musical standards, initiative, and creativity, along with a personal dedication to the goals of The Connection Faith Community.
- the performance of the duties of the position in a cordial, professional, and cooperative Christian manner with the Pastor, the Worship Team, and the Faith Community as a whole. The Worship Director will be expected to act with integrity as a representative of Christ and the leadership of The Connection Faith
Community.
Employment Expectations
The Worship Director will be expected to:
- attend and coordinate weekly worship gatherings and lead the Worship Team in musical selections 50 events per year, and special events as agreed upon by The Connection Faith Community and the Worship
Director at least thirty (30) days in advance. This includes time for the set up and breakdown of audio/visual equipment and preparation of the Worship Team.
- prepare additional online worship experiences as necessary.
- notify the Directing Pastor of any substitute at least 14 days prior to absence unless said absence is an emergency.
- attend Worship Design meetings to facilitate communication and planning of worship gatherings and online production.
This work should require no less than 5 and no more than 10 hours per week.
Working Relationship
- This position is under the general supervision of the Directing Pastor, in conjunction with The Core Team
(SPRC).
- This employee will be subject to a 90-day Evaluative Period. If, after 90 days, the employee has continued to meet the expectations outlined in this agreement and the Employee Handbook, per an evaluation conducted by the Directing Pastor and Core Team, the employee will be notified of their continuation of employment.
- Substitute leaders for rehearsal or performance will be the responsibility of the Worship Leader.
- Compensation increase or decrease will be determined by performance as well as church budget considerations.
- The employee will be guided by the personnel standards set forth in the Employ Handbook.
