Basic Function:
The Director of Religious Diversity and Spiritual Life (DRDSL), reporting to the University Pastor, will collaborate with the Campus Ministry team and campus partners by utilizing their experience working with faith communities and embodying CLU's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice. The Director supports students from diverse religious and spiritual traditions (e.g., Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Vedic, etc.) The Director will organize and coordinate Campus Ministry projects and programming to support the spiritual and liturgical life assisting students in the exploration, development, and appropriation of their faith and religious identity. The Director will nurture relationships and connections with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and faith leaders from various traditions. The Director will work in close collaboration with the University Pastor and Campus Ministry team to provide programming, care, prayer, and spiritual mentorship to the California Lutheran University community.
Representative Duties:
Coordinate interfaith programming, outreach, and engagement.
Models inclusivity and hospitality to all, providing leadership for the Campus Ministrys efforts to promote pluralism, interfaith cooperation, and mutual understanding of identities and cultures among its students, faculty, and staff.
Create and coordinate trainings and workshops to promote interfaith cooperation and dialogue, interfaith literacy, and religious diversity.
Collaborate with student multi-faith clubs in planning events to celebrate holiday and religious observances.
Identify the needs of community members and provide resources and support in collaboration with campus partners.
Advocates and participants in interfaith dialogue and community development.
Build bridges across lines of difference to foster community and create campus partnerships between Campus Ministry and the Cal Lutheran community.
Support in the formation and training for interns and student leaders on topics ranging from diverse spirituality, racial justice, and interfaith cooperation and dialogue
Networks with and coordinates partnerships with local and national interfaith/worship communities, organizations, and religious leaders.
Assist students with access to diverse faith communities, services, and ministries on and off campus.
Participate regularly in the prayer and worship life of the University.
Participate in weekly chapel services, staff meetings, divisional gatherings, Campus Ministry events and celebrations, Fall and Summer Orientations, and Admission Open Houses.
Collaborate with the University Pastor and Campus Ministry team in planning, implementing, and attending interfaith and multi-faith programs and events.
Collaborate with student multi-faith clubs in planning events to celebrate holiday and religious observances.
Support University Pastor in responding (as needed) during times of crisis or student death.
Assist the University Pastor in gathering and convening an Interfaith Advisory Board and Interfaith Student Coalition.
Provides support to and attends weekly Campus Ministry team meetings.
Support Campus Ministry programs and projects including web management, social media, and communications outlets and platforms.
Write reports as needed.
Manage Campus Ministry Office in the absence of the University Pastor.
Stimulates and nurtures a concern for love of neighbor, for justice and righteousness among the members of the University community, with a proactive care of the earth.
Perform related duties as assigned by the University Pastor.

Serve as a pastoral minister, chaplain, spiritual leader for people from diverse backgrounds and faith traditions.
Communicate and interact effectively in a cross-cultural, multi-religious environment with a variety of constituents.
Create, organize, and implement campus-wide programming, including assessment and evaluation.
Handle sensitive and confidential information with great discretion..
Work well with others on deadlines, take initiative, problem solve, work independently, and address conflicts as they arise.
Supervise staff and manage budgets.
Exercise independent judgment and work effectively in a team environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to: A Bachelors Degree and three years of related experience in ministry in higher education, religious organizations, or multi-faith organizations.
Licensed religious or pastoral leader, chaplain or minister within a religious or multi-faith community
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Divinity, Theology, Religious Studies, or related field.
Rostered Leader Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation
