Hampton Nursing and Rehab (formerly ProMedica) working towards our mission to provide quality long-term care and related health services is looking for a Director of Nursing to oversee our incredible nursing department and help care for our fantastic residents/patients.
DON – Director of Nursing Responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:
- Maintains and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services provided and staff coverage on unit, absence of odors, general cleanliness, and apparent maintenance of optimal resident functions.
- Reviews 24-hour report from every unit daily to monitor and ensure timely, effective responses to significant changes in condition, new admissions, transfers, discharges, use of restraints, unexplained injuries, falls, behavioral episodes, and medication errors.
- Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.
- Participates in the preparation of the Plan of Correction response to an inspection survey, and implements any follow-up QAPI required for any nursing allegations.
- Communicates directly with residents, families, medical staff, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, and Department Heads to coordinate care and services, promote participation in care plans, and maintain a high quality of care and life for residents.
- Acts in an administrative capacity in the absence of the Administrator.
Requirements:
- The Director of Nursing must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan and must remain in good standing with the Michigan Board of Nursing. The DON must maintain his/her RN license in active, unrestricted status and provide evidence of renewal as required by the facility’s policies and procedures.
- The RN must possess comprehensive knowledge of Nursing Home procedures and its application to the aged, chronically ill and convalescent resident and must possess skill in leadership. The DON should have a general knowledge of current federal and state rules and regulations for skilled (SNF) and nursing (NF) facilities, including OSHA’s Blood-borne Pathogen Standards. The DON must work to familiarize him/herself with the facilities policies and procedures and ensure that these policies and procedures are carried out in all aspects of their responsibilities.
