Job description
Job Summary:
Responsible for the direction and supervision of all aspects of the operations (technical/administrative) of the laboratory. Coordinates marketing, client services, quality assurance, compliance with all regulatory/accreditation guidelines. Responsible for hiring/disciplinary functions of the laboratory. Promotes technical guidance and expertise to associates, departments, physicians and administration. Assures appropriate utilization of resources through the budgeting process including purchasing, supply ordering, and material management and inventory control.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or related field
Master’s degree preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
MT (ASCP)/equivalent registry (i.e. NCA, CLS) acceptable or eligible
Must meet Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA ‘88) requirement for testing personnel in a high complexity testing laboratory
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks effectively and efficiently
Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
Ability to learn and integrate technical aspects of the laboratory as a whole
Ability to make quick and accurate decisions under stress and emergency situations
Ability to use computers (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience Required:
Minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a bench technologist
