Avid Care is currently seeking Direct Support Professionals in Penn Hills, Pa.

Position 1 (36 Total Hours)

• Tues, Weds, Thurs, Friday overnight
• Opportunity for Overtime
• $250 sign-on bonus paid after successful 30 days of employment

The roles and responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional include but not limited to the following:

• Provide individualized care, implement activities of daily living, including proper maintenance of living areas to foster maximum independence of the individual
• Assist with chores necessary to maintain as normal a living environment as possible, (i.e., laundry and housekeeping)
• Attend required in-service trainings
• Mitigate self-injurious behavior
• Observe the individuals’ behaviors and changes in physical conditions, and report accurately
• Complete and maintain documentation of individual records
• Offer input toward Individual Support Planning (ISP)
• Maintain inventory of individuals’ personal belongings
• Assist and encourage individuals to engage in various activities in the home and community
• Maintain professional, effective communication with other agency personnel, individual families, and outside contacts
• Identifying and recognizing the needs of the individuals (e.g. meal planning, laundry, house cleaning, etc.)
• Access to a fully insured personal vehicle to perform job duties

Required Skills and Knowledge:

• Minimum of 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three (3) years experience working directly with individuals with development disabilities (preferred)
• Able to assist in lifting individuals of various weights
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and insurance
• Access to personal vehicle
