Title: Digital Mastering Technician

Salary: Expected base pay rate for this role will be up to $26.00 USD per hour at the commencement of employment.

However, if hired, base pay will be determined on an individualized basis (pay rates may vary) and is only one part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include discretionary bonuses and other IMAX sponsored benefit programs.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Digital Technician manages the versioning elements received from clients, creates feature versions, quality checks the created features, and handles any customer service issues in relation to KDMs (Key Delivery Messages) or features during weekend coverage or as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be primarily performing quality checks on all mastered DCPs (Digital Cinema Packages) to ensure they have all required elements; this can include subtitles, dubbed audio, accessibility tracks, or localized picture
  • Additionally, the candidate will be mastering various DCPs including localized dubbed and subtitled versions
  • You will also be supporting our KDM and Customer Service department during the weekend and as needed during the week by fielding emails and phone calls, distributing KDMs, and assisting in the troubleshooting and resolution of KDM and content issues experienced at any of IMAX’s theaters worldwide
  • The position’s shift is Tuesday through Saturday, 10pm to 7am

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate would be a team player in addition to being able to work independently, problem solve, and manage time while staying organized and focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have a professional and positive approach to a heavy workload and a willingness and eagerness to learn new tasks and workflows
  • Familiarity with post-production environments is ideal; this includes basic knowledge of the DI (digital intermediate) process including video editing, video compression, and coloring, as well as basic knowledge of audio workflows and data management
  • Experience and understanding of Quality Control to detect variations from IMAX’s high quality and industry standards
  • The ability to manage, consolidate, and prioritize a large amount of data is vital
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite as well as basic computer knowledge and Microsoft Excel is essential
  • Experience with digital cinema mastering is a plus but not necessary
  • Experience with Linux, Bash & shell scripting, or Python is also a big plus but not necessary
  • The ability to work with studio or theater clients to resolve any emergency KDM or DCP issues; previous customer service skills a plus
  • The position requires a flexible schedule, overtime when necessary, weekend availability, and sometimes holiday availability
