Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey (GSHNJ) is one of four Girl Scout Councils supporting the New Jersey area. We service all of Hudson, Essex, Union, Somerset, Hunterdon, and portions of Middlesex and Warren counties. We operate offices in Westfield and North Branch, NJ; and maintain camp properties in Maplewood, Hillsborough, and Middleville, NJ.

The Role...
We are looking for a talented and passionate individual to join our team as Digital Marketing Lead who will be responsible for conceptualizing, advising, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating GSHNJ’s digital brand strategy across all social media networks in addition to managing the organization’s website, copywriting, and editing. The Digital Marketing Lead ensures content messaging is consistent with the national brand and organizational communication strategy.
Here's What You Will Be Doing...
- Works closely with Marketing and Communications Manager to implement strategic plans and develop content for a holistic marketing approach across all channels.
- Champions the council’s social media presence on all relevant platforms.
- Serves as subject matter expert in social media platform functionality and analytics including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.
- Designs and implements a social media strategy to align with business goals.
- Generates, edits, publishes, and shares engaging, diversified content across organization’s social media platforms daily.
- Achieves the highest levels of support and responsiveness to social media followers, opening cases to escalate inquiries as appropriate.
- Attends council events to take photos and provide social media support as needed.
- Adjusts social media content to optimize user engagement and drive action across all major channels; stays up to date on best practices and emerging trends.
- Optimizes organization’s website operations.
- Enhances brand awareness within the digital space and drives website traffic.
- Monitors SEO, web traffic metrics, and social media analytics.
- Works cross-functionally to update website while maintaining site and brand integrity.
- Maintains monitoring and analytics systems to track digital engagement and results and summarizes in reports.
- Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure council marketing and communication brings the Girl Scout brand to life by using imagination and GSUSA toolkits, the brand voice, fonts, colors, and brand essence.
- Collects and pitches stories or articles highlighting accomplished Girl Scouts, alumnae, troop efforts of significance, and other stories which highlight council programs and mission.
- Continually engages with GSUSA to remain current and compliant on marketing techniques and campaigns, branding, systems changes, programming, and opportunities relevant to members across all facets of council business.
- Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all appropriate youth and adults by actively participating in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
- Ensures compliance with GSHNJ’s Charter of Values, and uses it as the basis for personal conduct, conflict resolution, and correspondence with customers and coworkers.
- Remains current on GSUSA’s and GSHNJ’s initiatives, and national and local trends affecting youth, and is able to correspond with customers accordingly. Attends GSUSA webinars, participates in Chatter groups, and utilizes gsConnect.
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
Is this you?
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or equivalent experience required.
- 2+ years of experience in digital marketing, editorial, or web content management.
- Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Experience Manager.
- Web content management experience necessary, especially Adobe Experience Manager.
- Must be proficient and familiar with various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.
- Experience writing web content, social media content, blogs, press releases, and customer-facing communications.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Graphic design experience
- Email marketing software experience, especially Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Flexibility to shift work hours as needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to lift and manipulate up to 30 pounds of Girl Scouting products, supplies, or materials.
- A valid driver's license, current insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle are required for travel between council properties and across entire service area as needed.
- Become a registered member of Girl Scouts and maintain membership for duration of employment.
- The job is primarily performed remotely, but Employee may work from the offices as needed. Occasionally, Employee will need to attend meetings, trainings, or work events that may be held in any of our locations, others throughout council jurisdiction, or virtually.
