Job Summary:
The Design Assistant will support in the design process of assigned focused product from conception to final prototype to include illustrator sketching, creating and maintaining seasonal assortment boards, coloring and detailing the line, and creating/updating point out sampling sheets. This position will conduct market research, spacing, and fit. This position will embody the values and practices by having effective collaborative relationships and help to maintain the unique look, integrity, and vision of the brand.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
- Support Designer on all design processes as they relate to trend research
- Assist in the executing of silhouettes, fit, and styling direction
- Shop local NJ and/or NYC markets for design inspiration
- Work with Designers and Technical Design to assist on garment fit and construction
- Assist in executing and maintaining seasonal fabric and trim charts
- Create and maintain seasonal boards and line sheets using In Design
- Work with Designers and Merchants to create, execute, and maintain seasonal assortment boards using In Design
- Sketch and color assigned categories in Illustrator
- Assist in executing production/sampling packages and ensure that they are complete and accurate
- Maintain accurate organized records and archives of all bought and development samples, trims, and seasonal fabrics
- Maintain detail sheet updates seasonally
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in design or related field
- 0-2 years of experience in design or related field
Skills and Behaviors:
- Proficient in Adobe Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design, Bridge and Microsoft Office
- Thorough knowledge of fabrications, silhouettes, color ways, construction techniques, and trim
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work as a part of a team
- Strong organizational skills
