CareLink is a non-profit network of senior care providers working together to ensure that adults in our community can access the services and supports they need at the times when it matters most. We are looking for a DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) for a part-time position with our Mobile Services team that provides dental hygiene and preventative services to individuals in long-term care, assisted-living, senior housing and adult-day health facilities throughout RI.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for setting up and breaking down the operatory, in regards to sanitizing, disinfecting and sterilizing mobile dental equipment and instruments in accordance with established CDC and OSHA guidelines.
• Serves as the dentists’ or hygienists’ chair side assistant.
• Assists the dentist or hygienist in performing needed patient services.
• Performs patient assessments – medical and dental histories, radiographs, intraoral photos.
• Perform reversible intraoral procedures under the direct supervision of the dentist. Such procedures may include the application of pit and fissure sealants, coronal polishing, placing and/or removing retraction cord; fluoride treatments; and placement or removal of bonded orthodontic attachments and/or cementation or removal of orthodontic bands
• Completes accurate and timely documentation of dental services and assists with maintaining patient dental records.
• Responsible for maintaining equipment and inventory supply lists.
• Participates in effective communication with Wisdom Tooth team members.
• Communicates effectively with facility personnel, patients, family members about diagnosis and treatment plan established by the dentist or hygienist
• Participates in staff meetings and in-service education programs as requested.
• Must be able to take on responsibilities and be able to function effectively with little or no supervision.
• Must demonstrate the ability to effectively engage with patients, their families, and personnel in a professional manner.
• Must be able to effectively communicate patients’ needs to other members of the health care team.
• Must be computer and laptop literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel), basic dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eagle soft), remote dental devices, and communicating through email.
• Must be current on new dental technologies and willing to learn new skills as necessary.
• Must be capable of performing basic administrative duties (e.g., use of MFD, copy machine, scanner, fax, and computer).
• Must be open and flexible to new ideas and constructive feedback.
• Travel may include offsite events, community care centers, hospitals and/or members’ site. All locations are within the state of Rhode Island

Required Qualifications:

• Must possess a current/valid Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) which includes the following components: General Chairside Assisting (GC), Radiation Health and Safety (RHS), and Infection Control (ICE),
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) - HealthCare Provider level
• Completion of High School Diploma or GED
• Must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active member of professional organizations (ADAA, RIDAA etc.)
