Title: Driver Status:*, Part Time up to 24 hours per week / Non-Exempt Driver for: Retail Support Center Reports To: Retail Support Manager
Must be 23 years of age or older.

Position Summary:

A prefect position for an individual seeing part time employment in a supportive work environment.

The driver for the thrift store operations center transports donated merchandise within Lake County from stores to the processing center, unloading, and storing merchandise. A box truck and van are driven to perform duties.

Drivers also pick up donations from locations in the community and deliver large items. purchased by customers. The duties will involve physical movement of large items to and from homes, moving items between Hospice Services of Lake County’s Thrift Stores and support center. As a driver he/ she will occasionally perform a variety of duties relating to processing donating goods.

Drivers report to the Retail Support Manager. Drivers and processing associates work closely together and collaborate daily regarding pick-ups and merchandise distribution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Time Estimate

A. Transferring Goods/driving 70%

Sort and organize donations and transport them to potentially numerous storage and retail areas.

Move large and/or heavy items to appropriate location for sale or storage as directed by Retail Support Manager or as requested by a Retail Sales Manager

Follow the daily transfer plan to pick up and deliver goods to be transferred to other Thrift Store locations or other designated locations in the county.

B. Processing Donated Items 15%

· Process and prepare donated items for sale by cleaning, testing electronics, and performing minor repairs.

· Stamp, mark, or tag price on merchandise.

· Move processed items to shelves, storage, garbage, or recycle bins.

· Process seasonal items as requested by the Store Manager.

C. Maintain Facility 10%

· Keep facility clean, neat and odor free

· Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance to ensure the store is continually maintained in a professional and business like manner to offer our customers the best retail experience.

D. Customer Service 5%

As representatives of Hospice Services of Lake County, Retail Associates ensure a friendly environment by greeting customers in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner as well as consistently working in a positive and cooperative manner with customers, donors, volunteers and fellow employees.

· Answer customers’ questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.

· Assist customers requesting items out of reach or carrying large or heavy items to their vehicles.

E. Other duties

· Comply with Hospice Services of Lake County’s standards of compliance, conduct and behavior. Promptly report any potential misconduct or violation to supervisor or any other member of leadership team.

· Utilize protective equipment such as back brace and gloves.

· Follow established safety rules and guidelines.

· Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Must be at least 23 years old and have at least three years of driving experience.

3. Current Driver’s license, proof of acceptable automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.

4. Must possess the ability to safely drive company-owned delivery truck.

5. Must possess strong customer service skills.

6. Must have the ability to work well without direct supervision, either alone or as part of the team.

7. Follow instructions and seek direction for issues outside scope of routine assignments required.

Environmental Conditions and Physical Requirements
Successfully performs the essential duties and responsibilities, while wearing appropriate safety equipment, of the position through the use of physical activities as described below:

· Constant (over 66% of time) - requires standing, walking, talking, use of hands, bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting below waist and overhead. Lifting, loading and unloading of merchandise from trucks and vehicles. Wiping, scrubbing and cleaning of donated items in water containing soap. Lifting of items 50 pounds or less.

· Frequent (34% - 66% of time) –Checking for safety issues in and outside of store. Outside in all seasons to process and unload donations. Writing, sitting at desk. Must be able to comfortably lift and move items weighing up to 50 to 75 pounds. Use of cash register.

· Occasional (1% - 33% of time) – must be able to lift 100 pounds with assistance.
