The Department of Revenue (DOR) is looking for an accomplished IT professional to become the agency's designated highest expert Data Management and Business Intelligence system architect. Responsible for architecting internal and public-facing systems, this position will design and develop solutions to highly complex and technical issues based on results of research and analysis. Duties

The Data Architect provides technical and organizational leadership in the research, analysis and recommendation of technology solutions to customer challenges, promote delivery of quality services and reduce the overall business cost. This position possesses advanced technical and enterprise-wide business knowledge to independently seek out innovative solutions that balance strategic goals with tactical actions.

In this position, you can expect to:

  • Works collaboratively using enterprise architecture and IT industry standards that defines the broad structure of a system, consisting of its parts, their interrelationships and other visible properties.
  • Communicates with multiple audiences at varying levels and methods to promote transparency in decision-making and adherence to the governance process that ensures that organizational changes are moving in the desired strategic direction, implementing the goals and objectives.
  • Serves as a core member on the IT Architect Board to develop processes, strategies, plans, standards, best practices, design patterns, and templates to document the architecture and guide development.
  • Consults and advises the development and infrastructure staff to ensure technical solutions support the network, security and other IT-related initiatives.
  • Develops and implements database development and management.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related field from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or a foreign equivalent.

AND

Five (5) years information technology experience that demonstrates knowledge and application of data management, application, security, integration and/or content management architectures

AND


three (3) years information technology experience as a database administrator.


A successful candidate must also possess a demonstrated experience and proficiency in technical problem solving.


Note: Additional years of qualifying experience will substitute for two years for required education.

Preference may be granted to candidates who also possess:
  • A master's degree or higher in computer science or related field to information technology from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or a foreign equivalent.

  • Experience as a developer creating business intelligence and/or reporting solutions.
