CUSTODIAN – DAY SHIFT
K-3 Campus
New Vision Charter School – Loveland, Colorado
Kindergarten thru 8th-grade public charter school
New Vision Charter School is seeking a day custodian who shares our commitment to providing a safe, clean environment to help our students achieve excellence in and out of the classroom. We seek to provide students with an academically rigorous, content-rich, Core Knowledge curriculum in an environment in which character is modeled and promoted.
The Custodian is responsible for cleaning, repairing, and maintaining assigned buildings, equipment, systems, and grounds in compliance with all safety, health, and school rules and regulations to provide students with an invitational school environment that is a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn and develop.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up tables for the lunchroom; keep tables clean between lunch cycles.
- Empty trash as needed throughout lunch cycles; keep lunchroom floor area swept during lunch cycles
- Secure lunchroom tables into storage and mop the lunchroom area after lunches are completed.
- Clean all assigned areas daily to include sanitizing bathroom, restocking bathroom supplies, vacuuming and cleaning carpets, clean and maintain tiled floors, dust all room surfaces, collect and dispose of trash, clean all glass surfaces, and clean whiteboards as needed.
- Clean windows and doors at entrances of school and in the breezeway.
- Clean staff lounge to include cleaning and sanitizing tables, refrigerator handles, countertops, door handles, light switches, microwaves, etc. Clean and sanitize stairwell banisters daily.
- Check all dispensers throughout campus and refill as needed.
- Clean and sanitize the exterior surfaces of all dispensers.
- Clean and sanitize the sinks in both staff restrooms, health office restrooms, and staff lounge. Clean and sanitize all water coolers.
- Empty exterior trash can(s) every morning and on an as-needed basis.
- Gather and take recycled items out to the recycle bin.
- Pick up trash/debris in hallways and the exterior of the building at all times as you travel in or out of the building. Collect items left outside and put in lost and found.
- Keep copier paper stocked at the 3 large copiers.
- Clear playground wood chips from the sidewalk and surrounding areas.
- Clean and sanitize the fronts and tops of all lockers once a week.
- Clean and sanitize, as needed, any area where a teacher or staff reports an accident from a sick child. Use a carpet cleaning machine if an accident affects a carpeted area. Thoroughly clean carpet cleaning machine after cleanup is complete.
- Place traffic cones for the afternoon driveline around 2:45 pm.
- Monitor all areas of the buildings for proper cleanliness and clean areas as needed.
- Maintain and monitor the supply room and deliver supplies as directed.
- When special events are held, complete extra cleaning before and after the event and assist with any setup or breakdown of equipment.
- When on duty, be the first responder to all safety and security issues, hazards, bodily fluid spills, alarms, fires, water breaks, mechanical and electrical failures, chemical spills, and gas leaks. Follow Universal Precautions and sanitation procedures for cleaning up all spills and accidents.
- Assist with snow removal and clearing.
- Positively represent the school and its mission to the students, parents, colleagues, and the general public
- Ability to work cooperatively with school staff and administration
- Other Duties and Responsibilities: As needed or assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Basic math, writing, and communication skills. Must fluently speak and read English.
- Technical knowledge concerning maintenance and custodial techniques including standard methods for materials, tools, and safety practices.
- Ability to operate and maintain all types of custodial equipment, hand tools, and snow removal equipment.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety codes, custodial chemicals, and OSHA requirements.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license preferred
- Must be able to pass a physical (push/pull/lift 50 pounds)
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the post-offer screening process, including a CBI/FBI background check and fingerprint submittal.
Compensation & Schedule
Compensation will be based on experience in the range of $16.50 to $17.00 per hour
Scheduled hours based on 40 hrs per week. Benefits include health and dental insurance.
