Position Summary
The Cost Accountant will support a variety of recurring financial processes including product costing updates, monthly reporting and variance analysis, and support forecasting process. Additionally, the Cost Accountant will be a key contributor to the Cluster team's processes, such as supporting the development and monthly preparation of Factory Statements comparing to previous periods and to standard. This role is responsible for ensuring consistency and transparency in financial reporting for multiple facilities as well as support and compliance with all internal controls. This role will collaborate with manufacturing sites in the development and application of best practices for the Cluster.
Location: Spruce Pine/Charlotte, NC Area - Hybrid position working from home 2 days a week 3 days visiting manufacturing plants (driving distance.
Responsibilities
- Analysis - Perform analytical review of actual results (including manufacturing information) versus budget, forecast, and prior year at varying levels of the cluster and across different information systems to ensure accurate and actionable plant business decisions. Support special projects.
- Accounting & Costing - Coordinate financial review for manufacturing variances, costing, inventory valuation and analysis, forecasting and budgeting. Deliver monthly financial results to Sub-Region Leadership team. Costing support which includes participation of the annual standard cost campaign for compliance with regional directives, cost estimates, cross site comparisons, review and presentation of actual cost evolution and trends. Assist with calculating and reporting cycle count metrics and related reconciliations. Reviews transactions to insure proper impact on perpetual and G/L records.
- Support Controls – Ensure proper control environment: compliance with accounting policies and chart of accounts, ensure that all accounting bookings are complete and accurate, evaluate business controls applied to the sites impacting manufacturing and inventory, work with local management to implement and improve controls as needed, certify that all transactions are recorded in line with Corporate Policy & Company Code of Conduct, safeguard all company assets, and participate in reviewing asset inventory and utilization. Support the financial review of local site capital projects, to include working with the company Capital system, approvals and make good analysis. Provide Sub-Region Finance support including reviewing and delivering monthly financial results, identification of areas needing corrective action, tracking of committed cost savings, supporting corporate and regional projects as needed. Identify and implement improvements across financial processes.
- Forecasting - Support the forecasting process, the annual budget, and the strategic plan processes to coordinate best estimates for manufacturing performance. Ensure that budget & forecast processes are completed within the business timetable, assist in driving accountability.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, MBA/CPA preferred.
· 5 years relevant finance experience with a background in manufacturing and direct costing accounting experience.
· Must have ERP, preferably SAP experience. SAP implementation experience a plus.
· CMA preferred but not required, other accounting qualifications may be considered.
· Highly motivated individual with strong business interest and desire to act as a key finance support to various business leaders.
