Description of Work
**This is an Anticipated Vacancy** This position is located at Neuse Correctional Institution in Goldsboro, North Carolina. This is a medium custody male facility. This position will report to the Correctional Lieutenant II on the assigned shift rotation. This is a supervisory position. This position provides daily supervision to Correctional Officers on the assigned shift rotation. Position is responsible for ensuring that DPS policy and procedures are followed. Position is responsible for ensuring that SOP's and written memorandums are followed. This position in conjunction with the OIC participates/conducts shift line-up, makes shift assignments and inspects all assigned custody personnel to ' determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. Position completes, reviews, and maintains time sheets, duty rosters, leave schedules, evaluation and other administrative duty forms. Position is accountable for ensuring that all equipment is operational and ready when needed. Position is responsible for maintaining effective communication both oral and written with staff and inmates. Shift assignments for this position is based on the needs of the institution. Position is required to work 12.25 hour shifts and will be required to work days, nights, weekends, holidays as scheduled on the shift assignment

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
- Documented knowledge of facility operations
- Documented knowledge of Prisons' policy and procedures
Management Preference: The Prisons Eastern Region prefers candidates with no less than 2 years' work experience as a Correctional Officer
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Officer, or two years of experience as Correctional Officer II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
