All Saints Catholic Parish in Alpena is seeking a Coordinator of Communications and Development. This person is responsible for the development and dissemination of a consistent message via multiple media sources for the parish, school, friendship room, and cemetery. This person is responsible for fundraising activities for the parish and school. Major Areas of Responsibilities:
Leadership and vision:
- Establishes philanthropic vision and strategy, including major giving, annual giving, grants, campaigns, and planned giving
- Develops and executes fundraising strategies in collaboration with all the departments of All Saints
- Applies creative strategies and fundraising best-practices to All Saints development operations.
- Collaborates with staff to establish systems and processes that ensure timely donor recognition and robust data to support fundraising decisions.
Manage all Parish, School, Friendship Room, and Cemetery Communication channels
- Prepare the weekly e-newsletter and bulletin.
- Develop and implement a communication strategy that focuses on the parish mission
- Communicate and celebrate parish life, telling our story through various communication channels
Donor relations/major gifts
- Develops relationships with prospective and current benefactors.
- Grows a major gifts program including identification and cultivation of prospective donors. Plans an annual seminar to encourage planned gifts.
- Plans and executes giving campaigns with the help of parishioners and volunteers. Provides support and guidance to the annual major school fundraiser.
- Alumni and parent relations develops alumni and parent relations programs and activities.
- Develops and execute capital campaigns. Participates in parish and school strategic decision-making, including capital decisions
- Supports Pastor in executing an annual Stewardship campaign to encourage parishioner tithing.
Job requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 5-10 years development experience; experience in a Catholic environment a plus.
- Executive presence and poise necessary to interact with major benefactors, church and lay leaders; adept at developing and maintaining positive donor relationships.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written; able to present the parish and school mission and giving opportunities in a compelling manner.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, able to manage multiple projects and prioritize responsibilities.
- Event planning experience.
- Experience managing a team preferred.
- Strong leadership skills
- Proven self-management and team-management skills
- Ability to monitor and control project budgets
- Capability to make decisions under pressure
- Needs to have great social and communication skills as well. Working experience with major social media platforms Working experience with websites.
