Taldeco is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead CNC Programmer to join our team. As the Lead CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all CNC programming activities within our manufacturing facility. Your expertise in CNC programming, machining processes, and tooling selection will be instrumental in optimizing productivity, ensuring high-quality output, and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
CNC Programming: Develop and optimize CNC programs for complex machining operations, including milling, turning, and multi-axis machining. Utilize CAD/CAM software to generate accurate and efficient toolpaths while considering factors such as material properties, tooling capabilities, and machine limitations.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to a team of CNC programmers. Mentor and train junior programmers on programming techniques, best practices, and machine-specific considerations. Drive knowledge sharing and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the CNC programming team.
Process Optimization: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes, reduce cycle times, and improve overall productivity. Utilize your expertise to identify opportunities for automation, tooling enhancements, and machining strategy improvements.
Tooling and Fixture Selection: Select appropriate cutting tools, toolholders, fixtures, and workholding solutions for different machining operations. Work closely with tooling suppliers to evaluate new technologies, conduct tooling trials, and recommend cost-effective solutions that improve machining efficiency and quality.
Program Verification and Simulation: Conduct thorough verification and simulation of CNC programs using simulation software to ensure accuracy, avoid collisions, and optimize toolpaths. Make necessary adjustments and optimizations based on simulation results.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the quality team to ensure that CNC programs meet the required quality standards and specifications. Participate in first article inspections and conduct in-process inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a CNC Programmer, with a demonstrated progression in responsibilities. Experience in a leadership or supervisory role is highly desirable.
CNC Programming Skills: Expert-level proficiency in CNC programming using CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Siemens NX, GibbsCAM). Strong knowledge of G-code programming, machining strategies, and machining parameters optimization.
Machining Expertise: In-depth understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, cutting parameters, and machining best practices. Familiarity with various CNC machines and controls.
Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership qualities with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team. Excellent communication skills to convey technical information, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide clear instructions.
