Cloud Data Engineer Job Posting

We are a Genomics sequencing and research company seeking a talented Cloud Data Engineer to join us. Our team focuses on collecting, transforming, uploading, and managing incredibly large datasets to the AWS cloud in order to enable self-serve and research. Our ideal candidate is someone who is highly analytical, detail-oriented, a self-starter, has excellent follow-through, and possesses strong Python, Pandas, and AWS management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop data processing pipelines to handle large-scale healthcare/genomics datasets in AWS using Python and Pandas.
• Manage AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda and implement IAM policies for user management.
• Implement AWS CDK to deploy infrastructure as code for serverless architecture.
• Work with very large datasets and implement performance tuning techniques to optimize query execution time.
• Develop and implement ETL workflows using Python, Pandas, and AWS Glue to transform and load data into our data lake.
• Develop and deploy dashboards and reports using Athena and Tableau to visualize data insights.
• Create automated data quality checks to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Document data pipeline workflows, infrastructure diagrams, and technical specifications for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including data scientists, business analysts, and project managers to meet project objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in Python and Pandas.
• 3+ years of experience in AWS management including permissions, CDK, and s3 management.
• Experienced with multiple database technologies and ability to write moderately complex SQL queries
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Self-starter with good follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in healthcare or a sensitive information space
• Familiar with genetics and genetic sequencing
• Experience managing very large data sets
• Experience with Spark or PySpark
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or AWS Quicksight
