The Clinical Director of Safety and Quality, Tisch Cancer Center (herein called Director) provides leadership for the safety and quality improvement program for Oncology. The Director is responsible for the administration of the oncology services quality assessment and improvement program, the development and implementation of an integrated performance improvement system, and the establishment of plans and strategies to operationalize the system with the goal of improving organizational effectiveness in, safety, quality, performance improvement, and patient experience. This individual maintains compliance with mandated clinical interventions inclusive of sensitive indicators, core measures, patient satisfaction and other clinical intervention metrics to demonstrate clinical outcomes according to benchmarks and goals. This position interfaces directly with Hospital Departments, Administrators, Nursing, Medical and Quality Leadership, and Clinical Staff, overseeing administrative and daily operations of performance improvement and clinical intervention compliance. The Director conducts, coordinates onsite quality consultations throughout the health system, and works with leaders to implement sustainable quality improvement action plans.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Quality Management
Establishes mechanisms for using data to drive improvements in quality of patient care and outcomes through evidence-based practice
In collaboration with the Hospital Departments, Administrators, Nursing, Medical and Quality Leadership, and Clinical Staff, and Oncology performance improvement teams, insures compliance with Mount Sinai Hospital institutional processes for conducting and reporting quality activities
- Clinical Leadership
Evaluates the impact of changes in clinical practice and supports innovation to improve care delivery and resources in the environment of practice.
Serves as co-chair of the MSH Quality Improvement Steering Committee and member of hospital and medical center quality committees.
Develops and designs action plans to support sustainable compliance with measures indicators and provides support and educational resources to departments and services relative to quality assessment and improvement processes.
- Administrative Practice
Prepares reports and analysis associated with the Oncology Services programs i.e. senior management reports, departmental and clinical service program evaluation, quarterly reports, etc.
Facilitates collaboration within the program between all MSHS departments and services.
Provides timely status reports of results of quality monitoring relative to areas that are assigned including identification of patterns and trends that require actions.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in a health-related field (i.e., MSN) minimum; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years (higher preferred) of progressive clinical experience in oncology
- NYS current licensure as RN or APP

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $139,748.00 - $209,622.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
