Qualifications:
Education: BS in medical technology or other related science.
Licensure/ Certification: NYSDOH license or ASCP certification.
Experience: at least 2 years Laboratory experience.
Skills: Proficient in laboratory testing, result reporting, equipment handing and troubleshooting, statistical
analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

- Perform tests which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, with a minimal supervision by the director or supervisor, in only those specialties or subspecialties in which they are qualified by education, training and experience.
- Function only under direct supervision and perform only tests which require limited technical skill and responsibility in the specialties in which the medical technologist is not qualified by education, training or experience.
- Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of test examinations
- Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed
- Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance
- Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the supervisor or director.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
