Johns Eastern Company is currently seeking applications for an on-site claims adjuster at the Maryland Transit Administration. Qualified applicants should have two years or more experience in commercial liability claims adjusting, with emphasis on mass transit, automobile and general liability claims.

While experience is preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate for this position.

This position handles the managing, investigating, and resolving of serious claims. Assigned claims might involve severe property damage and/or complex bodily injuries, including fatalities and wrongful death claims filed against the MTA. Experienced adjusters must adhere to the requirements within Section 111 of the Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007. Familiarity with Medicare regulations is important.


Experienced adjusters are tasked with the following responsibilities:

Manage a caseload of approximately 150 claim files, some with multiple claimants, pertaining to MTA operations liability
Perpetual evaluation of reserves for property damage and/or bodily injury claims with exposures of $25,000.00 or greater (subject to change)
Investigating claims, issuing timely reports, thorough diary reviews, managing litigation, and demonstrating excellent organizational skills

This position is also responsible for any other duty or task that would be required in order to meet the performance requirements of the job.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and two (2) years of experience in investigating, settling and handling automobile property damage, bodily injury and general liability claims.
