Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with the day-to-dayoperations Head Start Centers and Child Development Centers.
  • Personnel administration which includes hiring, supervising, evaluatingand terminatingeducation and special servicesstaff members, in accordance with MVCAAPersonnel Policy Guidelines.
  • Serves on agency and community boards as appropriate.
  • Assist with the development and administration of the grant application and funding requests based on program needs.
  • Foster an atmosphere of support for the Head Start/Child Development programs in the community.
  • Assists with the reporting to Policy Council and the Board of Directors as required.
  • Ensures that necessary planning is accomplished to achieve current and future goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that the program context is developmentally appropriate for the different age groups served in the Child Development Division.
  • Assists with developing and monitoringthe Head Start and Child Development budgets.
  • Evaluating the program in cooperation with Policy Council/Board of Directors.
  • Monitors program monitoring systemsutilizes outcomes data in the self-assessment, monitoring and planning (developmental and behavioral screenings, assessments, p/t conferences and child outcomes data).
  • Identifies systems strengths and determines areas in program that could be a potential risk.
  • Understands and supports program school readiness goals and objectives.
  • Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining positive working relationships with team members, internal customers and external vendors.
  • Understands, generates and documents in-kind and other allowable costs toward the non-federal share requirement.
  • Demonstrates commitment to mission, values and policies in the performance of daily duties.
  • Understands and supports MVCAA, Inc. Supervision of Children policy.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the successful execution of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiar with Head Start Program/Child Development Program.
  • BS/BA in Education; Early Childhood degree preferred
  • Ability to make presentations to groups, agencies, and potential funding sources.
  • Knowledge in the field of early childhood development.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Regulations/Head Start Performance Standards and Federal and NYS early childhood licensing regulations.
  • Basic computer literacy skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of resources for children who have special behavioral and/or learning problems andserved by the Child Development Division.
  • Able to work with wide variety of people, including people who are currently living in poverty.
  • Able to travel to all program sites, trainings, etc, as necessary and required.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality and privacy.
  • Management and supervisory experience.
  • Effectiveverbal and writtencommunication skills.
  • Background check, fingerprint clearance, annual physical exam and TB.
