Chief Operating Officer
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is second in charge of the Neighborhood Health Association and a member of the executive management team, responsible for maintaining and driving operational results within the company. The COO works closely with the CEO and the CFO as well as other executive management team members to ensure operational excellence at all levels. As one of the most critical positions within an organization, the COO must be a skilled communicator, an effective, patient leader and a driven businessperson who can spur NHA growth, maintain and evaluate key operational procedures, create new processes and ensure day to day exceptional operational quality.
The COO will provide leadership and strategic vision to the organization. They will evaluate, change, operational, managerial and administrative procedures, reporting structures and operation controls to the company. The COO will effectively communicate and foster growth among the executive team and all employees. This is a vital leadership role that will drive results, spur growth and increase the overall efficiency of the corporation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the CEO, and within the guidelines set by the CEO, acts in their absence.
- Acts as the Corporate Compliance Officer establishing organizational policy in areas of HIPAA,and HRSA compliance and adherence to PCMH and TJC accreditation standards.
- Provides leadership and management oversight to several key departments of the organization including IT and Quality.
- Strategic outlook and planning of IT strategy in compliance with required Quality programs as related to funding and supervising bodies.
- In conjunction with other executive leadership ensures the clinics are operational while addressing barriers to patient access to assure the highest productivity and return for the organization.
- Assignments will be based on projects, inefficiencies and opportunities for strategic growth.
- Responsible for new program development and facilitation of partnerships in the community which includes participating in the definition of the scope of the project, defining program deliverables and executing contracts.
- Assist executive and leadership team members in creating, growing and building a world class, industry leading organization by assisting them in the development of well-formed, efficient and effective departments that align with the overall strategic vision.
- Drive NHA expected operational and financial results with respect to investments, visits, integration of all service lines, reporting and controls by working closely with the CFO, CEO and other key executive team members to create effective measurement tools that gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of patient-focused processes, productivity and partnerships.
- .Develop methodologies to determine measurable outcomes and for the monitoring and evaluation of those measures.
- Provide accurate and timely reports to CEO outlining the operational condition of NHA.
- Will help set strategic direction for the organization and spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
- Works with the Executive Management Team (EMT) on organizational budgeting, forecasting and resource allocation programs.
- Work closely with EMT to create, implement and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems and policies all designed to foster growth, assure compliance with selected credentialling organizations, profitably and efficiencies within the company.
- As one of the key leaders in NHA, will motivate and cultivate employees and departments at all levels of the organization to reach their maximum potential and contribution to the organization.
- Foster a growth-oriented, positive and encouraging environment while keeping employees and management engaged and accountable to company policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Acts as an independent auditor to assure compliance with regulatory and accreditation expectations and outcomes across all operations.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required in business or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of executive level operational experience required in a multi-site healthcare system; FQHC experience highly preferred.
- Two years of IT strategy and management experience.
- Experience in Quality programs or in the implementation and management of accreditation or regulatory programs.
- Knowledgeable of managed care contracts and MCOs with negotiation ability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Highly experienced in strategic planning, budget development and contract execution.
- Demonstrate a high level of problem-solving skills, with the ability to make critical decisions supported by substantial analysis and critical data-based decision-making.
- Ability to provide a high level of personal direction, leadership, and coaching to management and staff with the ability to effectively manage conflict and inspire high standards of performance.
- Exceptional executive presence, business acumen and presentation skills.
- Proven leadership skills and business knowledge.
This is a full-time salary position, Monday – Friday, no weekends, or holidays.

The annual salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. Candidate must provide salary requirements when applying to be considered for an interview for this position.
