Description

A key player in the rapidly expanding world of classical education, Ascent Classical Academies is currently seeking a chief academic officer to further drive growth in academic, cultural, and character excellence in its schools. The chief academic officer will lead the academic team organization-wide with passion for our mission to expand access to high-quality classical education and to mentor headmasters and leaders in our schools to excellence. The chief academic officer implements the academic strategy in all Ascent schools which now number four in Colorado, with several more future schools on the way in South Carolina, to touch thousands of lives across multiple states with the beauty of a classical, content-rich education in the liberal arts and sciences.

The chief academic officer leads headmasters in displaying high moral character and embracing the virtues of a free and just society. The chief academic officer is committed to curricular and workplace excellence in all Ascent schools and leads headmasters to build a committed, stimulating, and intellectually-serious culture in the schools, as well as operational excellence through ACA’s entrepreneurial operating system (EOS). The chief academic officer reports to the executive director who is accountable for the schools' performance to the governing board.

The chief academic officer will lead headmasters and continuously improve the following, delegating where appropriate:
  • Articulating the ideals of classical education among campus leadership, faculty, staff, parents, students, and the community
  • Promoting the dual vision and mission of ACA to operate high-quality classical schools and expand access to classical education
  • Ensuring the virtues and duties of a free and just society are appropriately taught and reflected in all academic activities
  • Promoting the schools as a pillar of academic and character excellence in the community
  • Ensuring curricular fidelity consistent with the philosophy of the school and as required by authorizers
  • Remaining current with the state of education in the nation, state, and locally to promote ACA’s interests
  • Crafting the vision for faculty and staff development, including summer faculty academies and in-session professional development plans, as well as observations and performance evaluations
  • Leading headmaster fellows and others to educational leadership and mastery in classical school administration

Employment Type:
Full-time, Exempt

Pay Range:
$120,000 to $180,000 for full time (prorated for part time), highly dependent on experience and qualifications, as well as funding and enrollment to be determined

Location:
The CAO will work out of the Ascent home office in Golden, Colorado to work closely with the ACA leadership team; travel to school sites also required.

Requirements



  • Master's Degree or higher
  • Significant experience in classical education, school leadership and organizational effectiveness
  • Exceptional organizational skills, and experienced management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
  • Understanding of Ascent Classical Academies' mission and vision and a commitment to the growth and expansion of classical education
