Role Overview

Chemical Operator

We are looking for:

The Chemical Operator position plays an important role within Solvay. This position works execute manufacturing processing in accordance with QHSE (quality, health safety and environmental) rules and regulations while meeting or exceeding customer requirements.

We count on you for:

  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure team compliance with Solvay Life Saving Rules, use of PPE, HSE rules, regulations and policies.
  • Support the manager regarding the compliance with HSE rules, regulations and policies.
  • Ensure that own activities and initiatives respect the HSE rules, regulations and policies.
  • Complete assigned incident investigations.
  • Implement assigned HSE incident action items on time.
  • Resolve assigned internal/external audit findings on time (Dakota, VPP, etc)
  • Perform internal HSE audits and inspections.
  • Manage the flow of day to day operations within assigned area.
  • Support and complete assigned task within the Excellence programs and promote continuous improvement activities.
  • Assures administrative duties are completed in an accurate and timely manner: checklist, tags, paperwork (reading sheets, inspections, inventory, etc.).
  • Monitor field equipment (by inspection & instrumentation - walking rounds, observing pressures, levels and temperatures on vessels and moving equipment or using other visual/audible indication), adjusts, and troubleshoots equipment as needed.
  • Collects process samples, runs lab analyses on process samples, assesses need for process changes based on analytical results, and documents results & actions.

You will bring:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an Associate’s degree in Process Technology or other chemical focus STRONGLY preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an industrial/plant environment.
  • Must know details of chemical processes employed, associated hazards of chemical processes employed, and mechanical equipment utilized in assigned units.
