We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our growing Salem Early Supports and Services and Pediatric Outpatient team!
The individual in this key position will provide Occupational Therapy services to children ages 0-22 years in both and Early Intervention (ESS) program as well as a pediatric outpatient program. Services will be provided as planned with and directed by the supervising OT. Outpatient services are generally done within our clinic in Salem, NH; ESS services are primarily provided in the child’s natural environment and focus on facilitating early development through a trans-disciplinary model focusing on family coaching and training. The COTA in our program will also participate in running group sessions with others under the direction of the Occupational Therapist. The COTA may also assist the Occupational Therapist when performing tests, evaluations and/or complex treatment procedures.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Occupational Therapy from a school approved by the AOTA
- Registered or eligible for registration by the AOTA
- Licensed by the State of New Hampshire Office of Licensed Allied Health Professionals
- CPR and first aid certified within 3 months of hire
- Works well as a team member, incorporating initiative, good judgement and communication skills, good health and emotional stability
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Promoting early development, using a trans-disciplinary, family coaching model for ESS; ESS services are typically provided in the child’s natural environment.
- Documenting treatment and appropriate billing information in the electronic medical record in accordance with departmental protocol.
- Providing written and/or illustrated home exercise programs, video links for carry-over activities and developmentally appropriate activities to families
- Adapting the environment and materials to facilitate a child’s success and building independence
- Working as part of a team of case managers, educators, EI specialists, PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs, SLPs and SLAs and students to work with children with a wide variety of abilities and needs to provide individualized services that best meet the needs of clients and their families
- Participating in staff and team meetings, in-service programs and continuing education
- Providing occupational therapy at contract sites as assigned by department supervisor and providing own transportation to and from contract facilities.
Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours a week
