The City of Pomona is offering an exciting opportunity to become a Police Cadet and is seeking passionate, driven, and motivated individuals to join their team. This position is designed as an apprenticeship program for preparation of a law enforcement and public service career. This recruitment will also establish an eligible list for future Police Cadet vacancies.
The Cadet program was established for college students between 18 - 23 years of age, pursuing their college degree. The Police Cadet position consists of a variety of support and administrative functions at the Police Department.
This position is classified as at-will, hourly, part-time. Hourly, part-time positions average 20 hours per week and less than 1,000 hours in a fiscal year.
- Must be currently enrolled or attending an accredited college or university and carrying 8 or more units and a GPA of 2.0 (recent high school graduates must show proof of enrollment prior to appointment).
- Must remain enrolled in college throughout employment as a Cadet.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma, GED equivalency or CHSPE.
- A valid class C driver's license with acceptable driving history is required.
- In addition, applicant must be of good moral character.
Ability to : Learn, interpret, and apply the policies, procedures, laws, codes, and regulations pertaining to assigned programs and functions; learn police terminology, law enforcement codes, and techniques used in public relations; learn to prepare and maintain accurate and complete records; understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain harmonious working relationships.

Supplemental Questions
Final candidates must successfully pass a background investigation, an oral interview, a medical and drug screen exam. Failure to receive a recommendation for hire at any phase of these procedures will result in disqualification.
