GEIS Budget Analyst
***This position requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered. ***
The Budget Analyst (BA) is responsible for managing, tracking, and coordinating GEIS-funded project budget data to ensure efficiency and accuracy of project funding and execution. The BA collaborates closely with the GEIS Program Manager throughout the fiscal year funding cycle to closely monitor and analyze funding distribution details. Additional duties include tracking of approval and funding status, project and laboratory level budgets, quarterly financial updates, close out status, etc.

Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for GEIS Budget Analyst: $85,000.00-95,000.00/yr.
Pay commensurate with experience.

GEIS Budget Analyst Responsibilities Include:
- Manage and coordinate the process of soliciting and tracking quarterly budget updates associated with GEIS-funded projects and maintain up-to-date budget data and spreadsheets for all funds awarded by the GEIS Program.
- Coordinate with the Program Manager on the proposal funding cycle to create, implement, monitor and track funding obligations and expenditures.
- Correspond with the appropriate internal and external Resource Managers to collect data and communicate deadlines.
- Generate progress reports as needed and provide further detail when necessary to ensure that the project’s fiscal objectives are being met on time.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge and expertise in processes for DoD Service laboratory funding and adapt processes to new funding mechanisms as needed.
- Develop budget tables and graphs to most efficiently convey funding data to AFHSD and GEIS leadership.
- Review and analyze cost and pricing data to verify and substantiate direct and indirect costs in accordance with knowledge of the federal budgeting process.
- Create instructional documents (including standard operating procedures) for GEIS as it relates to core budgetary processes.
- Support the GEIS Program Manager in GEIS related duties as needed.
- Work both independently and collaboratively to deliver products and assignments on time.
- Maintain professionalism when interacting with individuals internal and external to AFHSD.
- Prepare documents as needed for GEIS leadership using strong written communication skills and expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
GEIS Budget Analyst Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 6-10 years of related experience in financial management.
- Demonstrated experience in ensuring program financials and financial processes operate efficiently.
- Demonstrated experience tracking and managing multiple ongoing budgets.
- Experience collaborating in a team environment and managing multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and complete tasks to the highest standards.
- Experience with DoD financial systems (e.g., GFEBS) is preferred.
- Experience supporting senior level military leadership is preferred.
- Operational military experience and/or familiarity with DHA, OJSS, and/or military service-specific public health leaders is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to quickly learn to use online budget platforms
- Team player and collaborates well with professionals.
- Public Trust required.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
