The Field Service Engineer is the primary technical representative for Medtronic Cardiac Surgery. The FSR is responsible for promoting and maintaining customer satisfaction by providing on-site maintenance and repair of company and customers’ equipment with minimal supervision or direction. Contributes to revenue objectives through the sale of service agreements, parts, and accessories to customers within individual territory.

Cardiac Surgery:
The Cardiac Surgery operating unit represents end stage treatment in the care of continuum for many cardiovascular diseases and provides an intimate relationship with the Cardiac Surgeon and Cardiac OR.
Additional Information:
- Location: Individuals must reside near Boston Massachusetts to successfully support this territory.
- Territory: This position will support a territory that includes Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
- Travel: This position will require up to 50% of travel including overnight travel. A percentage of the travel will be local not requiring overnight stay.
- Equipment: This position will work on Bio-Console 560 blood pump, Automated Coagulation Timer (ACT) blood diagnostics and clot detection, Hemostasis Management System (HMS) heparin and protamine management, and AutoLog IQ autotransfusion system.
A Day in the Life
- Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Provides efficient, effective repair and inspection of Medtronic Cardiac Surgery equipment and equipment of designated partners of Medtronic Cardiac Surgery.
- Performs administrative duties to include service reports, contracts, market analysis and special reports.
- Manages assigned company assets, including spare parts inventory, service loaners, test equipment, computers, and vehicle.
- Takes ownership of all territory responsibilities necessary to maintain effective and efficient territory operation.
- Acts as a technical consultant for developing and nurturing customer relations, liaison between Medtronic Cardiac Surgery and the customer.
- Anticipates, plans, schedules, educates, and fulfills customer requirements in a timely manner.
- Provides technical support and assistance to sales, other service territories and corporate as needed. Participates in joint sales/service presentations.
- Responsible for maintaining and development of all business potential. Includes, but not limited to promotion and sale of contracts, accessories, etc.
- Flexibility to travel frequently- 50% of the time
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience of relevant experience performing preventative maintenance and repairs on electro-mechanical equipment
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
- Ability to apply engineering principles such as electrical, mechanical, and biomedical to troubleshooting without complete technical documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and technically diagnose medical equipment. Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills
- Experience in teaching technical subject matter
- Excellent time management skills and detail oriented
- Ability to work independently, self-motivated and without direct supervision.
- Extensive direct, face to face customer contact and interaction
- Medical equipment repair, clinical field service, or clinical customer support experience
- Ability to work closely with customers, listen to their issues and then develop a plan to increase confidence and satisfaction with Cardiac Surgery products and services.
