JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The mission of Metrocare Services is to serve our neighbors with developmental or mental health challenges by helping them find lives that are meaningful and satisfying. We are an agency committed to quality gender-responsive, trauma-informed care to individuals experiencing serious mental illness, development disabilities, and co-occurring disorders. Metrocare programs focus on the issues that matter most in the lives of the children, families and adults we serve.
The Behavioral Stabilization Aide provides behavior support services to individuals who are dually diagnosed with an intellectual/developmental disability along with substance abuse, mental health issues and/or severe behavioral concerns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions listed here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the job.
Ensures that individuals behavior plans are followed while in the program.
Assists the individuals with activities related to daily living, including bathing, dressing and personal hygiene, eating and assisting the consumer with ambulation and mobility.
Works with individuals of every age with behavioral health, mental health, and/or have substance abused issues in addition to IDD diagnosis.
Responds to and deescalates crisis situations in the program.
Offers educational group therapy sessions under the supervision of a LPHA.
Provides daily care to individuals, including behavioral monitoring and physical care.
Ensures the safety of the individuals.
Conducts habilitation activities that train individuals to: develop or improve skills that allow the individuals to live more independently, develop socially valued behaviors, integrate into community activities, use natural supports and typical community services available to the public, and participate in leisure activities.
Assists with the administration of the individuals medication or to perform a task delegated by a registered nurse.
Assists the registered nurse in monitoring the individuals health by reporting potential problems.
Completes housekeeping duties to ensure Center is clean and orderly.
Maintains all documentation as required for company and state compliance within 24 hours of providing the service.
Maintains acceptable work record by being punctual to work and requests PL within acceptable time frames established by supervisor to ensure adequate coverage is available in the home.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 4 years of behavioral health experience
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Basic math skills required.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Ability to utilize Internet for resources.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Centers liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. Due to the multi-site responsibilities of this position the incumbent must be able to carry equipment and supplies (up to 15 pounds). The position requires standing and/or walking in excess of 7 hours a day.
TRAVEL:
In county travel may be required daily.
No Overnight travel required
