Thank you for checking us out! My name is Steve, I'm with the Panama Bay Coffee Company. Have you ever smiled at a coffee shop? If you’re at all familiar with Downtown Walnut Creek, I’m pretty sure you’d smile when I tell you where this one is. Now how awesome a coffee shop looks should NOT be the reason you’d want to work there but who doesn’t love a great office?

What are we looking for?

Ideally, kindness, empathy and fun are in your DNA to help others. Ideally, your friends would describe you as enthusiastic, energetic with a love for people. Ideally you’d have amazing Barista skills. Ideally you have a willingness to take coaching from others. Ideally, you take responsibility over blame. Ideally, working here will be the experience of a lifetime.

Seriously, you don’t need to have the Barista skills. We can teach that.

Who are we?

We’re a retail specialty coffee company with a popular menu of coffees, teas, blender drinks and bakery items. We bake pastries daily and have a line of Gluten Free muffins and cookies that have become pretty famous.

We have lofty standards for quality and it’s because of the staff that we pull it off. But the products are just one of the ways we connect.

Perhaps the thing that is most important for you to know about us is that we don’t think of ourselves as a coffee business. We consider ourselves to be in the people business. We care about having fun with the people we meet and are genuinely interested in creating memorable experiences. We call it Brewing Joy.

We don't look at what we do as "having a job". Sure you're paid, all jobs pay. We have openings for people who like the idea of making great experiences on purpose.

How we do that depends pretty much on each person that works here. Much of the time the menu can start a connection, but listening to create joy almost always provides opportunities that can venture way beyond our lattes. So what are we looking for now?

To be great at anything takes enthusiasm, a huge willingness to grow and commitment.

The compensation is based on your abilities (experience and skill). It’s hourly and the tips can be pretty good! Quite often they add $5 to $10 to each hour worked. Combined with your hourly rate it could add up to be $20 to $30 per hour or more! You must be at least 18 years old.

Please know what I’ve described here is real. If you’re not feeling it, I would invite you to pass. It’s going to feel like work and that wouldn’t help either of us.
