Barista Job Description:

This position requires constant multitasking. We are looking for someone who can fluidly move from making drinks to taking orders, to cleaning and restocking - all while making sure that our customers feel welcome in our space. We are an extremely busy shop and require a person who can stay calm and communicate well in a fast-paced environment. If you are a self-motivated, hard-working, energetic individual with experience in the coffee industry and an excitement for community-minded spaces, then this is the job for you!

Currently looking for part-time employees and this time only accepting applications from people with barista experience. Preference will go to people with Sunday availability.

Day-to-day responsibilties include:

● Welcome customers into the shop

● Discern preferences of customers and recommend menu items

● Basic math skills and cash handling

● Prepare and serve a wide array of beverages with precision and efficiency

● Keep bar stocked with necessary supplies and ingredients

● Complete daily tasks assigned to each shift

● Maintain a sanitary workspace

● Assist in the overall success of the team, including shop cleanliness and organization

● Maintain basic knowledge of coffee equipment and report to management if there are issues

● Flexible schedule. Shifts are typically 6am-12pm, 8-3pm, 10-5pm, and 12-6pm

● Weekend availability

● Desire to create a memorable experience for our patrons

● Being dependable in working assigned shifts and product quality

● Adapting to recipe changes and introduction of new menu items

● Multitasking between projects and cleaning

● Maintaining a positive attitude and willingness to learn

● Experience as a barista is preferred but not required - willing to train the right person!

● Reliable transportation to Evanston, IL or plan to relocate before starting work (Required)

Additionally, this job can be physically demanding at times, requiring a range of body movements and pressure as well as lifting up to 50 lbs.

Benefits:

Pay

● Tips (cash and credit card) are pooled throughout the week and are calculated based on the hours you worked that week. (Yes, this includes kitchen staff!) Tips consistently range from $8-$10/hour.

● Expected take-home pay is $20-$25/hour with tips. Hourly rate is based on previous experience and ranges from $12-$15/hour.

Additional Benefits

• Both full time and part time employees receive up to 40 hours of PTO/sick pay per year. Every 50hr work week = 1 hour of PTO.
• Full time employees are eligible for health Insurance after the first 90 days.
