R2 Contractors, Inc. is looking for a dedicated field mechanic to join our team in Redmond, Oregon. The ideal candidate would be diverse in medium and light duty trucks, trailers, and small engines. In this position, you will be responsible for but not limited to preventative maintenance inspections, DOT inspections on trucks and trailers, repairs and completing given tasks in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities:

• Complete tasks given by Fleet Manager in a timely fashion and ask for help when needed

• Must have own tools

• Keep your work area clean and free of garbage, old parts and clutter

• Responsible for cleaning and organizing the service truck

• Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks (up to 1 1/2”)

• Keep personal and service truck tools clean and organized

• Keeping track of hours/miles on machines when preforming projects/jobs

• Keeping good records of daily work and completing work order paperwork EVERYDAY

• Keeping proper records of EVERYTHING.

• Complete DOT inspections

• Stay up to date with new technology

• Preform welding and fabrication when needed (MiG, arc, solder, braze, cutting torch, plasma cutting and carbon arc)

• USE PROPER PPE (PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT)! (grinding, cutting, sanding, welding, using compressed air etc.)

Requirements:

• Minimum 1-year automotive/diesel mechanic experience

• Able to weld and complete fab work

• Must be able to read, write and speak English

• Must have good communication skills

• Must be able to diagnose air brake and air systems, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, systems etc.

• Class A or B CDL Preferred, not required

Physical Demands:

• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

• Basic computer skills as demonstrated by knowledge of and ability to use MS Excel and Word

• Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner
