JOB SUMMARY:

Based in Century City the Attorney Talent Manager works closely with the Senior Manager of Legal Recruiting in all phases of legal recruiting mainly focusing on managing activities related to the legal recruiting and hiring of lawyers (entry level, lateral, and non-partner track career attorneys) as well as attorney talent initiatives, as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Law School Recruiting

  • Manage the on-campus recruiting process, including: organizing on campus interview (OCI) materials and logistics, scheduling callback interviews, organizing agenda materials for local office hiring partner meetings, updating legal recruiting database and coordinate appropriate communication to candidates regarding employment status.
  • Organize and manage law school outreach initiatives, including attending and engaging students at recruiting receptions designed to market the firm.
  • Network and partner with career services personnel, faculty, and student group organizations to raise firm’s profile.
  • Manage the Los Angeles office summer associate program, including: serving as a main point of contact for summer associates, organizing and executing summer program social events, monitoring budget, tracking and assigning work, preparing materials for mid-summer and end-of-summer meetings.

Lateral Recruiting

  • Liaise with the Director of Lateral Recruiting with supporting the execution of the lateral associate recruiting initiatives, including reviewing resumes, overseeing the hiring process e.g, scheduling candidate interviews, collecting and synthesizing interviewer feedback, offer letter generation and other due diligence processes.
  • Ensure the onboarding process is managed efficiently and the orientation logistics are organized to meet the integration goals for the particular lateral associate hire.
  • Serve as liaison with legal placement agencies and/or prospective candidates, as one of their main points of contact and guide them through the recruitment and employment decision stages of the process.

Attorney Talent

  • Liaise with the Attorney Talent department on attorney transition processes such as incoming associate orientation, attorney transfers and departures, and secondments.
  • Establish strong, effective relationships with the lawyers in the office and liaise with Attorney Development Managers, as needed.
  • Provide support for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and activities
  • Collaborate with members of Attorney Talent team to provide on the ground support department-wide projects and initiatives, as directed.

General

  • Using the legal recruiting database (LawCruit), compile, analyze, and update various demographic and statistical information, as needed for local hiring partners, office managing partner, and department.
  • Perform other work-related duties as requested.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
  • Four + years of executive recruiting or attorney professional development experience at a mid-sized or large law firm, career services or other professional services industry is preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to recognize confidential information and to maintain confidentiality of such information.
  • Ability to work efficiently independently as well as within a team.
  • Highly-motivated with strong initiative skills.

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES:

  • Flexibility in responding quickly and ability to prioritize workload and shifting demands.
  • Must be team-oriented and share information, goals, opportunities, successes and failures with the appropriate parties.
  • Ability to consult with attorneys and business support across all levels of seniority to conduct searches to determine best approach to fulfilling staffing needs, re-evaluate as necessary.
  • Must be innovative and proactive in marketing the firm to various candidate constituencies.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to follow up and follow through.
  • Ability to work in a multi-office environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally and educationally diverse environment.
  • Proactive in learning and adapting to new systems and processes.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is an exempt position. Incumbent is expected to work the hours necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Some travel will be required.

Ropes & Gray is proud to offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package to our business support team members. The anticipated pay range for this role is $118,000 - $177,000, which represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
