Assistant Program Director – Mental Health Services for Assertive Community Treatment Programs
Work Hours: This is an exempt, salaried position. Work schedule is (4) 10-hour shifts per week. Requires ability to assist with on-call coverage 24/7 and consultation as needed.
Salary: $91,000 per year
Education: Master's or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or equivalent
Licensure: Licensed or license-eligible with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences required
Program Overview:
Located in San Diego, CA, New Vista Crisis Center provides intensive, community-based crisis residential services for adults throughout San Diego County. We deliver a unique alternative to psychiatric hospitalization to clients who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis that is not manageable in an outpatient basis. Our services are provided in a home-like environment that specializes in the psychosocial rehabilitation of each individual.
Built around a bio-psychosocial approach, our multi-disciplinary team addresses each aspect of a client’s unique situation, including mental health, co-occurring substance abuse, housing, medical/medication needs, and establishing connections to social service supports within the community to facilitate successful transition beyond the START program.
Typical Duties of the Assistant Program Director:
Responsible for assisting the Program Director with the day-to-day operations of the assigned program, to include all legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements, staff management, client care, and quality assurance and control.
- Oversees all admissions to the program and coordinates with other mental health service providers and community resources
- Provides supervision to direct service team members, as assigned by the Director
- May participate in staffing management functions, including interview/hiring, training, payroll/timesheet processing, development, evaluations, and performance counseling as needed
- Monitors treatment programs and individual client care, quality control procedures, daily programming, and insuring the program is in compliance with all regulations
- May carry an active case load at any time while maintaining administrative duties
- Monitors client database for quality assurance and client files for accuracy and completeness
- Supports a collaborative and consultative culture within the program to optimize service delivery
- Required to be on-call on a 24-hour basis for program consultation and crisis intervention if needed
Qualifications/Skills Requirement
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or equivalent
- Licensed or license-eligible with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences required
- At least two years’ experience in a mental health environment; previous supervisory experience is helpful
- CPR/First Aid certification is required and must be kept current during employment
- Organized, with a strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders is essential
- Knowledge of County Health and Human Services requirements is essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, Excel required; previous training with Cerner helpful
- A valid California driver's license in good standing and eligibility to be an approved CRF driver is required to fulfill the essential functions of this position. In addition, proof of insurance is required prior to driving personal vehicles on company business.
