The Assistant Plant Manager will be responsible for safely manufacturing quality product that meets customer specifications in the most cost effective manner. This position is accountable for meeting budget as well as maintaining high productivity and efficiency rates. This individual will work closely with the rest of the leadership team in the implementation of plant objectives as well as supporting the sites safety programs. The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the production area in a manner that delivers specific results in areas of safety, quality, reliability, cost, productivity, and associate engagement.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

• College Degree or 7-10 Years management experience in manufacturing
• 2-5 years Blown Film and Converting experience preferred
• Operational working knowledge of extrusion, converting, and Didde press lines
• Proven track record of achieving Safety, Production, Scrap and Quality goals
• Tenacity to follow plans and troubleshoot problems to resolution
• Continuous Improvement dedication – create and implement projects
• Strong & effective leadership; ability to motive and influence teams
• Working knowledge of managing an expense budget
• Skilled at reading work orders, blueprints and schedules

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Promote safety in the workplace on a daily basis; lead and/or participate in incident and accident investigations creating a safe culture

• Establish housekeeping standards and audit compliance to set standards on a daily basis - establish and maintain 5S

• Prioritize production department work needs and communicate to other operational support functions (Shift Managers, Maintenance, Quality, etc)

• Prioritize, assign, and direct work for all Production Shift Managers in conjunction with plant production priorities

• Review daily schedule to efficiently plan job changes, new item introductions, and sample run requests

• Determine most efficient way to schedule production for Blown Film, Converting and Didde Press to meet priorities and minimize scrap

• Promote teamwork and cooperation between all department managers and Production Shift Managers

• Verify and ensure production orders, paperwork, and data entries are being accurately followed while maintaining desired production rates

• Consistently enforce company policies and procedures while maintaining a supportive work environment

• Drive inventory accuracy for film, packaging, and supplies ensuring quantities meet business needs

• Provide leadership to support troubleshooting operating issues and resolve conflict Initiate work orders, ensure operator maintenance procedures, assist maintenance as needed on regular PM's

• Assist as needed and/or verify shift production reports in cooperation with Production Shift Managers

• Work closely with Plant Management, HR Generalist, and Production Shift Managers on personnel issues, job assignments, and staffing requirements, adhere to budgeted head count numbers

• Work in conjunction with HR, Plant Manager, and Production Shift Manager in participation of coaching sessions to associates

• Write/modify work instructions and appropriate JSA's as needed, oversee all packing and operator training

• Lead brainstorming and problem solving work meetings as needed; track and monitor progress on projects

• Develop and lead efforts to achieve cost reduction targets utilizing best practices to help develop these improvement opportunities

• Analyze and summarize data generated from operator reports, film reports, SITSUM, scrap, downtime

• Comply with Quality Management System requirements and consistently audit procedures

• Support Production Shift Managers in approving time and attendance and assignments within department in Timestar as needed

• Plan and implement any action plans to react to negative trends in the data

• Attendance - be present for scheduled management team meetings as necessary

• Navigate and utilize the ERP System Functions as needed (Epicor)

• Other duties as assigned by management

Job Location/Working Conditions/Equipment:

Manufacturing plant location with 20% in office setting and 80% on the production floor.
