The Oyster Lover is a new food truck and mobile raw bar catering company based in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY that launched in June of 2022. We’re an oyster farming family with sales and management professional backgrounds with a mission to make oysters (both raw and cooked) more accessible to the Greater New York area.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Oyster Lover is hiring a full-time Assistant Food Truck Manager and Chef to assist the Manager in execution of all truck related activities - including operations and food ideation and creation. This is a great entrepreneurial opportunity for an individual to work closely with the founding team of The Oyster Lover as we continue to develop and grow our business model. The ideal candidate has a background in food service operations, is driven, and can thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment (and loves Oysters!).
We are looking for a jack of all trades to be involved in all aspects of the business - operating the food truck, preparing food, managing the POS system, food shopping, inventory management, etc.
The truck is based in Babylon and operates across Long Island.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
(Please note this is an overview and not an exhaustive list)
- Operate Food Truck; drive the truck to event locations, shuck and serve oysters, manage POS, etc.
- Assist in menu creation
- All aspects of food preparation - frying, chopping, etc.
- Food quality control check to ensure pristine presentation
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Food shopping/supply management
- Execute truck operations including stocking and organizing opening and closing duties
- Weekly deep cleaning of the truck
- Ensure that all physical supplies are ready, prepped and in place for all events
- Research best practices and bring new ideas on improvement to our operations
- Answer emails/calls
- Actively seek to increase sales for the food truck with additional catering events, parties, corporate events and more!
- Follow and enforce all policies and procedures set forth by the company
- Ability to train and coach team members
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in food service (fast service a plus)
- Must have a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record
- Must have your own personal vehicle/ reliable transportation
- Pass background check
- Ability to drive an automatic, small-size food truck
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Availability that includes nights and weekends
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to lift 30+ pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must obtain certificate for or be willing to take and pass Suffolk County Food Manager test
