Arizona Ready for College and Career is recruiting for AmeriCorps Members to serve at different locations throughout Arizona (Flagstaff, Phoenix, Tucson, Prescott, Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City, Kingman, Cottonwood, Sedona, Holbrook, etc). Through this project NAU's Center for Service and Volunteerism will place 65 AmeriCorps members who will prepare students for on-time high school graduation and college enrollment in low-income communities and Title 1 schools in Arizona whose on-time high school graduation rates are lower than the national average of 81.4%. The member will receive training in college access from the Arizona College Access Network and Northern Arizona University.
Member Duties : -Engage middle school youth in college and career preparation training -Work with CGA team to expand services to youth by implementing effective youth engagement and voice strategies through youth alliance chapters at area middle and high schools -Work with team to establish a community-wide Youth Alliance comprised of representation of all area Youth Alliance Chapters -Work directly with Coalition, youth and other community contacts or groups, and provides regular written and verbal reports of progress -Work with the Director and other staff to develop and implement youth-led prevention activities, community events, and youth-led, engagement and voice activities -Deliver engaging after school programming related to the goals of the Youth Alliance -Provide prevention education and awareness to the public, including participating in community events -Create meaningful experiences for volunteers, volunteer recruitment, training, supervision, acknowledgement, and evaluation
