The Department of Residential Experience and Housing at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Area Coordinator. The Area Coordinator will provide leadership and guidance to the Residential Experience and Housing Program and is responsible for fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment in the halls, retention of residential students, staff supervision, assessment, student conduct, counseling/referral, programming, emergency management, and general building administration.

Duties include but are not limited to: The position will be an active member on the Leadership Team of the department by chairing a department committee and participating in Leadership Team level duty rotation. The Area Coordinator is a live-in position that will run two independent living focused residence halls of upper division students. They will have 10 student staff direct reports and will supervise one full time residence hall director. The Area Coordinator functions under a flexible work schedule that may include weekend and evening hours.

Job Requirements:


Required Qualifications:

  • Prior supervisory experience
  • At least one-year full time residence life experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Event management or educational programming experience
  • Excellent verbal/written skills.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree
  • Two (2) or more years full time residence life experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • On-call/duty or related crisis experience
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on projects
  • Commitment to personal growth and growth of others
