Summary / Objective
Location: Prince George, VA
The Applications Engineer is a versatile resource for our Specialists, Engineers, and Business Unit Directors, providing engineering, technical, sales, and site support to company personnel and customers.
Essential Functions
1. Competently represent and practice VSP’s approach to fluid sealing product selection, capabilities, and engineered performance analysis
2. Compilation, extraction, analysis, and reporting of data relative to projects, products, and surveys
3. Provide technical support, including torque calculations, material compatibility recommendations, and bolted flange connection integrity analysis
4. Write technical reports, including root cause analysis (RCA) reports
5. Interact with customers regarding application issues and provide engineered design solutions
6. Pursue and document customer cost savings
7. Provide support to VSP Specialists, Engineers, and Business Unit Directors
8. Present training classes to both customers and VSP personnel
9. Participate in technical association activities on behalf of VSP
10. Develop, maintain, and support internal and customer-specific computer programs
11. Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction and improved efficiency opportunities
12. Perform and document internal and customer-driven research and product testing
13. Participate in new product development following the appropriate Quality-determined procedures
14. Actively review current manufacturing procedures to identify possible cost savings opportunities
15. Work closely with corporate administration and operations management to meet and exceed customer’s service expectations
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering
2. Experience relating to essential job functions
3. Experience in technical/applications support at industrial, transportation, or power generation facilities (Preferred)
4. Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing techniques (Preferred)
5. Advanced certifications in the field (Preferred)
6. Active participation in relevant industry technical associations/committees (Preferred)
